Philosophy

DMTA believes that Architects are service providers first and foremost and then artists. The service we provide enables people to exist in their time and for societies to become permanent in its time. We are trained to provide buildings and spaces that are safe, environmentally friendly and cost efficient to build and to maintain over time.

At the same time, we are artists who blend materials and techniques with artistic expression. We express ourselves through an honest and appropriate use of materials and through a respect for construction techniques. DMTA values the character and integrity of all building materials and appreciates the builders and artisans that bring our visions to life.

The late martial artist and philosopher, Bruce Lee, invented a fighting style called Jeet Kune Do which proclaimed that its style was to have no style. He believed that style was bondage. Since his method had no style, it fit in with all styles and was bound by none. It used any technique or means necessary to serve its end. DMTA similarly believes that its process is bound by no style. We never have a preconceived notion or direction. Each project, each process, is as new and unique as each client and their needs. We bring our skills and knowledge to the table each day in anticipation of a new challenge. We enjoy taking a new path with our clients each time we are asked to provide our valuable services.
